Jewelry Care
14k gold never oxidizes or discolors and can be safely worn when swimming, at the gym or showering. It’s stronger than its 18 and 24 karat friends so it’s more difficult to chip and damage. If you are wanting to wear your jewelry always, and never take it off, we only recommend purchasing from our 14-karat range.
How to care for 14k gold jewelry:
- To maintain the shine of your 14k solid gold piece, scrub it lightly with a soft-bristled brush using warm water and detergent-free soap.
- Then, buff gently with a clean cloth.
- Store your pieces in a safe, dry place when not worn to protect them from the elements of daily exposure.
You get the look & feel of gold jewelry at a fraction of the price. We use 18k gold that is a minimum of 2.5 microns thick, as required by the Federal Trade Commission to classify vermeil, layered over sterling silver. All of our 18k gold vermeil pieces are stamped with “925”.
Gold vermeil jewelry requires special care. Tarnishing of gold vermeil is natural and should be expected to occur. The extent of tarnishing depends on various factors, including, among other things, individual body chemistry, humidity in the environment, frequency of use, and care.
Vermeil jewelry should be removed prior to bathing, showering, washing hands, swimming, exercising, and applying perfume, hairspray, or lotion, as exposure to moisture or chemicals may cause tarnishing to occur faster.
How to care for 18k vermeil jewelry:
- Avoid excess sweat and water.
- Always remove your gold vermeil jewelry before exercising, washing your hands or showering.
- Apply perfumes, creams and hair care products before wearing your gold vermeil pieces.
- To clean gold vermeil jewelry, buff gently with a dry cloth.
- Store in a safe, dry place when not worn to protect them from the elements of daily exposure.
925 Sterling Silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. We plate our silver jewelry in rhodium, which gives it extra shine and durability. Rhodium is one of the costliest precious metals due to its rarity. All of our sterling silver pieces are stamped with “925”.
To prevent your silver from oxidizing, we recommend you do not swim, bathe, or shower in your jewelry. With all sterling silver jewelry orders, we provide a polishing cloth to maintain the finish of your piece. Storing your jewelry in a dustbag or box, with the polishing cloth, will prevent unwanted tarnish. If tarnishing does occur, gently clean your jewelry with the provided polishing cloth.
How to care for sterling silver jewelry:
- Sterling silver jewelry will oxidize when exposed to the elements, so remove your silver jewelry before exercising, washing your hands or showering.
- Always apply perfumes, creams and hair care products before wearing your pieces.
- To clean tarnished sterling silver jewelry, polish gently with a silver cloth.
- Store in a safe, dry place when not worn to protect them from the elements of daily exposure.
